Our company was founded in 1959 by Gene Townsend, a respected Corvette restoration specialist who is known for his custom auto body work, initially performed under the name Gene's Corvette Specialties. Excelling in everything from custom painting to fiberglass repair and by having a keen eye for detail, his classic car customizations and restorations have received top awards from La Jolla Concours d'Elegance and other world-class car shows.

Today, Gene still works on classic cars, but limits the number of restorations he will take on. Instead, he is primarily focused on setting the standard for the high quality of auto body work we perform and the superior level of customer care we provide at Gene Townsend Auto Body and Paint. Under his direction, our team has provided thousands of satisfied customers throughout San Diego and East County with unparalleled auto body and paint services using the industry's best parts, products, tools, and techniques.

Our dedicated team consists of almost 20 employees. Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, everyone on our staff always goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional auto body and paint services. Many of our technicians, such as our I-CAR certified auto body technician, our lead painter, and our maintenance and quality control manager, have been with us for over a decade. To maintain our high level of service, they continuously participate in trainings from I-CAR and leading manufacturers, and closely supervise the work that comes out of their respective departments. Additionally, we boast a well-staffed front office, where our customer support associate, experienced estimator and insurance liaison, and service manager are all readily available to assist our customers.
